Prestige works as an adjective as well. For example, "prestige television". |
No one mentioned US News until you brought it up. |
| Rich people overall don't care about rankings. Middle class strivers obsess over rankings. To the rich, it's up to the kid to decide, price isn't a factor. Non "prestige" UVA, Pepperdine, SMU, Miami, NYU even regional privates you've never heard of unless you live in the area are full of smart rich kids. My husband went to a state school whose Greek scene was full of rich kids. And if the kid needs a little help to get into a top ranked college, Dad and Grandpa can pull a string if the kid really cares... |
You're talking about nouveau riche. I can assure you that the Ivies and top privates are chock full of children from very wealthy families, many of them generationally wealthy. |
You’re putting off a strong Applebees, directional college. Ocean city vibe. |
UVA is prestigious though |
*SOME* Rich people behave the way you described because they realize that even outstanding parents sometimes end up having average kids. So they know that those average kids will likely not be admitted to a prestigious school and therefore will end up going to some upper crust liberal arts or parochial school. |
Where did you learn to write? |
Not the person who insults everyone’s writing…where did you learn to write hot shot? |
Funny that you think it’s okay to label middle class people “strivers” then run and hide when you feel insulted. |
| Why do you thing you know who writes each post? That’s so weird? |
Not sure how to use question marks? |
Some incel or femcel cat lady who spends way too much time on here. Prob refreshes the new topics all day |
So you sent your kid to a no name school assuming it will be the same when they want to go to grad school or get a job? Like it or not, people will always judge your child by where they went to school. There are other considerations of course but what parent doesn't want the best for their kids? Oh wait, I think we just found one |
| It's like a luxury brand. Not making a value judgment here, but are you the type that would value a Hermes scarf, or would you prefer to wear something cheaper off the rack at Walmart? A Canada Goose jacket, or a generic from Wegman's? |
