Just today, hung out with Quakers on a sports sideline. |
How much does the HOS make anyway? |
| So based on this thread odds aren’t that good but, I am getting mixed messages on hooks. I get a feeling Sidwell is looking for exceptional children. Exceptional doesn’t just apply to academics but, attributes they feel they can further develop. 40 slots is not a lot and I can only assume 15 will be taken up by donors, quakers, and VIPs off the bat. |
There aren't outside donors. Any Siblings are usually already applied and in the school as are Quakers. That is what usually takes lower school slots. The Upper School slots are generally for kids who are both students who thrive on academic rigor as well as have other attributes that would contribute to the school community - arts, theater, athletics, whatever. |
| You are forgetting the legacies, URMs, kids coming from k-8 schools. Then you can start looking at merit. |
| K-8 are already factored in at that point. |
Yes, Mom, just yesterday. She went to one of the schools mentioned up-thread. |
|
I'm not sure why it is considered odd for a Quaker child
to be attending a Quaker school. |
| Quaker schools exist to educate Quaker children in the Quaker faith. |
Not in 9th grade. The donors and VIP kids are already enrolled prior to that point. Really. You were closer to the mark with the exceptional concept l, keeping in mind there are a lot to f ways to demonstrate that. / it’s not only about SSAT |
| Real crap shoot, no golden rule. |
Not if they are coming from out of town or moving from another school. |
| How many descent athletes apply to Sidwell?? PPs mentioned athletes having a hook, seriously??? |
| Aren’t you exhausted from your Sidwell football thread? Give it a rest. |
I was seriously asking and I am not the same person who keeps bringing up football. I am asking because one pp said athletes don’t apply. |
