I cannot understand how someone would think that a name consisting of vowels, l, and n is harsh. Harsh must mean something different to you than it does to me.


Because it starts with the sound "uh". Even if you prefer the American sounding version with a little more "eh", there's still the uh underneath. Much prefer Helena. Strong but not harsh sounding.

I think Helena sounds harsher than Elena. But I like both names.
