Dog pooped, I picked it up, neighbor still yelled

Do you know what curb your dog means? It asks that your dog do its business in the road, not on the sidewalks. Wouldn't it be nice...

We biotch because they aren't doing the right thing quite the right way...certainly not the way that we would do them. And biotching at nice people is certainly less risky than tackling real problems...ugh.

But isn't this even worse than the dog going on grass? Because now people and other dogs walking on the street or sidewalk can step in poop residue. (fyi, I'm one of the few here who thinks it's perfectly acceptable for a dog to go on grass next to the street or sidewalk, as long as the owner picks it up.)

Is there anything we (cranky neighbors who don't appreciate dog shit remnants in the yard - we're a proud clan) can put on our yard, short of poison, to dissuade the dogs from coming up on the grass?

How about a water sprinkler attached to motion detector?

Where does one buy one of these?

Only $59.95!

Because dogs go on the grass to smell and on the grass on the front and on the side of the sidewalk. If they don't go when or where they need to they start to have runny stools and then you will have a bigger better surprise on your yard!

That's awesome.

[quote=Anonymous]Neighbor is a jerk. Plus, dog poop doesn't create brown spots. That's caused by a dog's first pee (the long pee) of a walk.

Not with our golden retriever - he made huge yellow spots all over my back yard in the grass - looked like crop circles out there.

Honestly, I don't know why people insist on deliberately going to war with their neighbors if the neighbors don't want dogs shitting in their yards. I love my dog, too, but will never understand why some people think their dogs should be able to be foul other people's property at will. We all know that you can't always get the whole poop up. Anybody who says otherwise is lying.

POISON? Are you seriously talking about poisoning dogs because they go to the bathroom someplace where you'd rather they not?

I won't be the first to make this observation: but this board is filled with some real lunatics. Who seem willing to risk going to jail for animal cruelty over some pretty small potatoes things.

OP - if you are someone who avoids confrontation, then try to get your dog to avoid that yard. If you're not, then your pearl-clutching prude of a neighbor can just live with the horror, the horror, of existing in the same space as dogs.

Except people on DCUM don't want dogs in public spaces, either. They want to pepper spray dogs they see out in public.

People on DCUM are raving lunatics.

The dog appears to be leashed and walking on a public sidewalk. The neighbor is pissed because the dog sometimes does it's business on the wrong side of the sidewalk.

No one is talking about allowing their dog to go off leash and wander around on someone else's property.

The SAME SPACE THAT IS ACTUALLY HER YARD!!! Why don't you get this? She doesn't want a dog in her yard! I get that dog owners don't care, and that most neighbors don't care, but thinking that's there is something insane about someone who doesn't want other people's leashed pets shitting on their property is what seems totally crazy to me. Respect the woman's request and have the dog poop elsewhere.
