The school's boosters bring it on themselves with constant carping about how the secret service nixed the school, that it has a pipeline to Harvard, that it's one of the big three - what ever that means. that it has celebrities. I'll just say that parents at other schools don't fret about their school's position in DC like gds does. GDS, once a socially progressive school seems to be more focused on social standing.

I think people have just fallen for one particular GDS Troll on DCUM who always posts crazy stuff (because it works, and people bite). I doubt the person is affiliated with GDS unless it's sort of a double self-referential game at being amused at how angry people connected to other schools get over posts that are designed to just get a reaction.

PP - I would agree with you if I hadn't heard a lot of this stuff directly from GDS parents myself. The only thing I will add is that GDS appears to be particularly keen on keeping up with Sidwell.

The GDS obsession with Sidwell Friends does seem odd, because several of the GDS parents I know considered both schools and chose to apply their kids at GDS.
