Early release Monday?

Busses are not available that early.

That seems strange. They'd have to be at high schools at 11. Are they still doing elementary runs at that time?

Capital Weather gang posted this several hours ago:

"The storms’ timing still needs to be pinned down, but they are most probable between about 1 and 7 p.m. Monday, when an organized and violent squall line is expected to pass. That said, widely scattered showers and storms, some of which could be intense, are possible before this window, as early as 9 or 10 a.m"

Unfortunately based on this it seems like an early dismissal might not be safe either. So either close school or risk having kids and staff stuck at school for hours after dismissal. I wouldn’t want to be responsible for making this decision.

Elementary runs should be done by 9:30. 3.5 hours early seems like an option.

They have to serve lunch in order for it to count as a school day. That timeline may be a factor as well.

I am leaning towards keeping my kids home tomorrow rather than worrying about timing a pickup correctly. This is only the third time we have had this threat level in 13 years. I would rather not deal with it if the tornados are starting as early as 10 and lasting til 8 pm.

Trump’s OPM? Probably pretend nothing happens

What are you talking about? The weather is calling for tornadoes. If kids are in school, they'll be in the hallway away from windows a chunk of the time and there's a possibility of severe storms around dismissal time.

If things progress as expected, I'd imagine an early release, though we won't know til sometime in the morning.

Given this updated weather information is there any chance they close?

I think close or very early release. If they hold the kids until after the storms pass, the roads may not be passable and kids will be separated from their families.

Anne Arundel County Public Schools will close two hours early on Monday, March 16, because of a forecast calling for severe and dangerous weather, including the potential for tornadoes in the afternoon.
