That's what 360K education from UMich get you.

I'm gonna place that more on the student/degree and less on the school....

Of course you would. Keep justifying. This poster is providing practical personal experience which is valuable. You...not so much. They didn't ask you to agree with something they experienced.

You know nothing about the graduate either. Your advice is also worthless.

The difference is I didn't act like I did or make any suggestion to the contrary.. Your post "I'm gonna place that more on the student/degree and less on the school" You really have an interesting perspective on things.

It wasn’t my post. [/quot

It was mine.

My kid is a senior at u Mich. Looking for a job became a primary focus Jr year. Had several internship offers and now a return job offer (LSA).[/

I went, I was in the Honors program and RC, and most of my friends and I were junior-year Phi Beta inductees. All of my colleagues have become very successful. The large departments, array of top departments, and flexibility allowed me to construct a curriculum on the liberal arts side that would be competitive with any in the country. But you have to know what you're doing when you go. If you are a little listless, aimless, or rudderless, it is not the place for you.

Ditto, the honors program is excellent

Definitely check out the department class offerings. If basic intro classes are closed with waitlists, it’s a bad sign for your kid.

Not entirely. If you read the instructions, there are ways to let the department know you want to get into the class.

No- Michigan is a great school but not worth the oos cost. My kid got a merit money to go to UMD smith in state and works with Ross graduates. We paid less than 100k all in for a degree.

No no no!! They should Go in state at your state school.

Corrected for accuracy. j/k

Absolutely not. The DMV has really good public colleges. If your kid has UMich OOS stats, they can get UMD or UVA for a much cheaper price.

Not true. There are lots of Virginia kids who go to Michigan when they don't get into UVA.
I personally know a half dozen. I'm not saying that UVA is a better school but it is a harder admit.

I rather buy a house.

UVA is a harder admit from NoVa, yes.

LOL. That's his shtick. He's got paying followers and has 75K total. I have a 2025 grad making great money and know dozens from the class also doing just fine (in a very, very tough market).

Maybe you should tell that to my 2025 CS major CMU grad who is still looking for a job. Maybe your grad and his buddies are just simply lucky. Maybe your 2025 is smarter than mine because of UMich because he is making great money in a very, very tough market. Give me a F! break.

Ross provides a lot of data on its graduates. For those seriously considering (not just arguing about it), you can compare this with your other options to help decide.

No it’s not “worth it” in general. But college park sucks which is why no many md dmv kids go oos. I don’t blame them for not wanting to go to school there. If I was in va I’d be pushing my kid for vt or w&m.
