Definitely check out the department class offerings. If basic intro classes are closed with waitlists, it’s a bad sign for your kid. |
Not entirely. If you read the instructions, there are ways to let the department know you want to get into the class. |
| No- Michigan is a great school but not worth the oos cost. My kid got a merit money to go to UMD smith in state and works with Ross graduates. We paid less than 100k all in for a degree. |
| No no no!! They should Go in state at your state school. |
Corrected for accuracy. j/k |
| Absolutely not. The DMV has really good public colleges. If your kid has UMich OOS stats, they can get UMD or UVA for a much cheaper price. |
Not true. There are lots of Virginia kids who go to Michigan when they don't get into UVA. I personally know a half dozen. I'm not saying that UVA is a better school but it is a harder admit. |
| I rather buy a house. |
| UVA is a harder admit from NoVa, yes. |
UVA is definitely a harder admit |
Maybe you should tell that to my 2025 CS major CMU grad who is still looking for a job. Maybe your grad and his buddies are just simply lucky. Maybe your 2025 is smarter than mine because of UMich because he is making great money in a very, very tough market. Give me a F! break. |

Ross provides a lot of data on its graduates. For those seriously considering (not just arguing about it), you can compare this with your other options to help decide.

| No it’s not “worth it” in general. But college park sucks which is why no many md dmv kids go oos. I don’t blame them for not wanting to go to school there. If I was in va I’d be pushing my kid for vt or w&m. |
