Question: do you also think Trademarks are useless and everyone should just be able to sell knockoffs with absolutely no brand protections?

Good lord some people are powerfully dumb.

OGC is being forced back. To sit in rooms and write and be in teams meetings. We’ve hired people who live outside the DMV and people have moved in the last few years (throughout all OGC). These people face some sad and hard decisions. And our ability to have the best in the country is now gone. And lots within the office will be leaving.

Productivity is going to take a big hit.

Can't the agency find a fed gov building close to their residence. I thought this plan was wide-spread. It is for HHS.

Not yet. There are ppl in places like Ohio. Not a hot bed of federal space.

Most major cities have federal offices.

And yet . . . the answer is still "not yet." Have you been to Ohio?

Well and it's not like those facilities can suddenly take in all the remote workers across the entire government.

So far most examiners, no impact…. Yet. Does anyone think they will eventually remove the remote agreement?

Pendency would absolutely skyrocket.

And if SPEs drive 2 hours day in DC traffic, tolerance for high quality will DROP. The job is a challenge in of itself now adding more on top is crazy.

I thought all SPEs within 50 miles have been ordered to work in office starting Monday.

No, they told them to hang tight until they figure out the spacing issue. Once they receive notice to RTO, they have five biz days. They don’t even have space for the SPEs

DP. Keep trademarks, get rid of patents, and cut copyright to 20 years.

Yes they have space for SPEs. The alexandria campus is basically empty, lol.

So... cut government science research, make private research unprofitable by getting rid of patents. I mean that's a great way to destroy science and technology in this country.

Your comment shows a lack of knowledge and understanding. Please state your credentials for opining on patent issues and the impact of patents on the economy.

Someone needs a refresher on the Constitution and Econ 101

Yep. Art. 1, Sect. 8, Clause 8 of the Constitution. Look it up.

lol you need to refresher on current actions. If they can take away birthright citizenship, two terms for a president and grant sovereign immunity they can do away with patents and the patent office. All it takes is an EO and SCOTUS.

Musk has said his goal is a 75% reduction in the federal government by eliminating federal personnel and departments.

Those efforts are currently halted by the courts. So who needs the refresher?

Oh cool, so you have no idea what a patent is.

Right? Or the fact that they'll still need patents in . . . dealing with the REST OF THE WORLD.

NP. So no new drug discoveries then? What’s the financial incentives for pharmaceutical companies if not the period of exclusivity?

Not too bad. Still lots of empty offices, that I presume are in the process of being assigned to within 50-mile teleworkers.

Had my first in person meeting (other than hearings) in probably 6 years.

Yes. Patents and trade marks are inherently anti-free market. Patents and trademarks restrict access to information and ideas. This slow and/or stifles innovation. These monopolies limit access to products, services and increase cost. Wealthy, large corporations or wealthy people use legal resources to intimidate smaller companies or people without resources and force them out of business. Let’s not forget texas instruments patent infringement. How much did that cost consumers?

Look at all the money spent on litigation, especially when "patent trolls" sue innovators for infringing on patents they have no intention of developing. Intellectual property rights is used to privatize information. Then we have the claiming of something that is in the public domain that shouldn't be owned. Remember the Yosemite National Park and Delaware North?

Yes good lord people are so powerfully dumb because they don’t want to pay you to increase cost of everything.

Cool, let's just destroy our entire economy because of a single patent troll case. Totally reasonable reaction.

Take it up with the Founders, buddy. And the rest of the world, which uses these mechanisms for innovation.
You don't throw out the whole system b/c of a few bad apples. Anyone older than a toddler knows that.
