9:13 and 17:29 -- I've done my share of joking, but I think we've gotten to a new high of the silliness of comment/seriousness of subject quotient.

Could I suggest that both of you (or maybe I should say all three of us) should silently declare ourselves the winner of the exchange and drop it before we reach a new high.

Not everyone who is "pro-life" would argue against abortion in *all* cases, including the one you mention above. If forced to choose a label for myself, I would have to say I am more pro-life than pro-choice, but because I do believe abortion needs to be available to women in some circumstances, I don't actively campaign to have it made illegal. I honestly cannot say what I would choose when it comes to disability, that could cover a large spectrum, but I probably would choose to abort if I was facing *certain death*, because I already have a child I would not want to leave motherless if I could help it. And I don't think that I would be emotionally unscathed after having that abortion, despite the extreme circumstance that prompted it. What a horrible situation to contemplate for any woman.

Just to pop in here and comment that I find this position the most repugnant of all. "I find abortion icky, and am against it for the sluts of the world who use it as birth control, but as long as there's a good reason--as determined by my personal opinion--then this atrocity is permissible."

Do you believe that a person should be given a pass if they kill someone else in self-defense, or do you think you should always be put in prison if you kill some else, regardless of the circumstances?

If you believe in a defense of self-defense, then you should be able to understand why someone would find abortion defensible in some circumstances, but not others.

I know which of the above is mine but which is yours? Also, I think the silliness was necessary because the never-to-end abortion debate had reached volcanic eruption and someone was going to reach through cyber space and throttle an innocent bystander.
