| It was incredible! We traveled to outside Dallas with family and it was so much fun! |
| It was wonderful- in Rochester NY. It was cloudy but you could still tell what was happening, got very dark and cool. Birds stopped chirping. Simply magical. |
Same! We drove to a small town outside of Cleveland. The moment of totality was incredible! I get that it’s not for everybody (my husband doesn’t think it’s worth the trip but is happy to support us) but for my kids and myself, it was spellbinding! It’s turned me into an eclipse snob. Give me totality or give me nothing! |
| Can I come out of my bunker yet? |
I'm the PP that went to Cleveland and I'm the same way now! I didn't realize the difference between 99% and 100% was that big but it's literal night and day. I understand thinking a non total eclipse isn't a big deal. I can't see how anyone who experienced a total eclipse saying that. |

| Definitely not worth the drive with two screaming kids to go to eerie and it was cloudy here |
| I saw an eclipse last year and wasn't excited by it. I felt nothing but annoyance hearing about this year's eclipse. |

Someone had a quote on this thread or another. Something like:
A partial eclipse is like seeing your crush from afar. A total eclipse is like having sex with them. I saw totality today. I think the quote is accurate. |
You sound fun. |
did you drive up today? i saw pics of traffic on 79. never saw 79 like that! |
Agreed. We were just east of Cleveland and seeing totality was really incredible. We made it into a long weekend trip with our elementary school age kids. So worth it! |
I respect this. There was really no way for us to travel for totality -- a Monday, just one week before spring break, in a week where we have a bunch of obligations. We could not justify taking the time off. In DC, I think it was 87%. That was worth standing outside with my next door neighbor and looking through the glasses she had, and chatting with a couple other neighbors for 20 minutes. It's neat that it got me out of my office and gave me an excuse to socialize with neighbors I don't really hang out with. And my kid did a bunch of eclipse activities today, learned about the physics of it, and got to watch it outside with glasses with her class, which is a cool memory for her. But it wasn't really a big deal for me. I get if you saw totality, it would probably be more memorable and significant to you. Happy for those of you who saw that. |
| I want to thank whoever responded to me on an earlier post on this thread where I said I was probably just going to happily stay put in my 96% eclipse area. I had no idea the difference between close to 100% and actually 100%! But based on your recommendation, I hit the road this afternoon to get into the totality Area and I will never forget that experience. Absolutely breathtaking. |
We watched in Moab, Utah. It was a partial view but the skies were brilliant blue and the stunning scenery made up for the lack of totality. I expected John Wayne to appear at any moment. |
