And Russel is cool with all this?
|
Why didn't the administration defend the book itself? |
Exactly. I do not recommend the school |
Such a tiny parcel for a k-12. And no lunch for the US because of the space constraints. |
My God you wrote EXACTLY what I think. Agree 100% and couldn't have written this better. This community of writers makes it clear that we are not alone and that change will come in time. |
So let me get this straight. Some random 15-18 YO can decide that s/he “feels unsafe” because a teacher or another student uses a word like “slave”- and can cause this level of disruption over it?? I have never been a fan of GDS but this is stunning even with that bias. |
Anyone want to guess the annual cost of this office to the schools budget? |
Why? I think this is very enlightening. Are you embarrassed by what you’re reading here? |
Sidwell is right down the street and is nowhere NEAR this level of insanity. |
|
So with type of insanity, why would anyone with a kid who is white or Jewish, Asian, Indian, or any other ethnic minority send there kids there? Other than being AA and benefiting from the DEI office, it seems every other group is marginalized there and is felt to be an oppressor and the cause of all problems. No thanks. My 1/2 Jewish/Indian kid does not need to be afraid of using words like slave in historical context or god forbid mom/dad instead of parent 1, parent 2.
Does anyone here have any kids who are happy with the social aspect of this school? |
Don’t kid yourself. All schools are like this now even public schools. My sister-in-law is a MCPS HS teacher and she was recently suspended for 1 week because one kid got offended at some random comment she made and complained to the principal about it. I cannot share what she said but it was relatively innocuous. |

Parent of a recent GDS. It is great to read this forum and hear things said out loud that I can’t imagine ever being said at the school (without consequences for your kid). The teachers are amazing. The rest was not. The thought/speech police are very effective at teaching kids to not express any view other than the school’s. To the PP above my child made great friends but the atmosphere impacts social relationships. Kids know they can’t really engage in dialog even with their peers on some subjects.
I ran into a beloved teacher recently who said the HS administration had become very difficult to deal with in the last few years and the teacher was thinking of leaving. If my kid were applying today I would worry about the impact the HS administration will have on teacher retention. |
Please share more about St. Andrews in DE. It's on our short list of high schools. |
That’s right. The physics teacher who actually knew no physics. Like how the FCK did GDS hire this clown? |
So only black kids benefit from DEI at GDS? Get a life. |
