I’m reading a book “Sex and Vanity”. It’s fictional about old money and international wealth and old New York families and all of the main characters went to Brown- and exclusive privates like Spence, Mrs.Porters, international boarding schools. A lot of literature and film use Brown. |
Some of these answers I don't get. Sure, being a snob makes sense in Princeton, New Jersey- it has that douchey "I'm better than you" vibe all around. But Williamstown, Ma? Really? It's basically like sending your child to Albany-not that much to be snobby about. |
I know and the answer is No. |
This thread is joke full of strivers who never set foot in any of these…..
Only 3 in the US. The rest is the rest. HYP + Oxbridge. The rest is the rest. Cry all you want strivers. |
It’s harder to get in OOS. |

VT has actually passed W&M per USNWR |
USC does not have snob appeal. |
Yes but the “average” W&M student is more cerebral than your “average” VT student and everyone knows this. Outside of CS- VT can be significantly easier to get into. Not the same kids at all. Typically. |
VT is still ranked better which will attract stronger students. Deal with it. |
VT's lack of snob appeal is its appeal. |
USC is the definition of snob appeal. |
Nothing snobby about USC - where all the spoiled rich brats go who are academic mediocrities |
