S/O - Name a beautiful song about something other than love/lust/heartbreak

Anonymous
This might be for another thread - but I REALLY love songs that are about playing in a show or being in a band, or going to see a show.

Bouncing Soul's Manthem is one of my favorites:

It's not beautiful, I guess, but it always makes me feel something.

Love how he treats his grandmother on her 100th birthday, it's really sweet and beautiful.

And SHE is so ALIVE!

I should be so lucky, at any age.

That’s a beautiful video!

OP here -- thank you all for your posts! I have tween-aged kids and we have a running game where we play songs not about love/lust/heartbreak, because kissing and loving is yucky to them right now. Lots of little kid songs fit this category, but they don't like little kid songs anymore either.

Old country music or novelty songs are hitting the mark, but I fear they're also going to get tired of country and novelty songs.

Here's their current favorite not-about-love song.

Bill Withers, "Lean On Me".

The Staple Singers, "I'll Take You There".

That's a great song

Time Of Your Life by Green Day, if we're slipping some gen x tunes in here

Bad Reputation by Freedy Johnston, too - I remember hearing that song for the first time in the movie Kicking and Screaming, and I've loved it ever since - almost 30 years now!

Another Freedy Johnston fan! Amazing!

Me too, This Perfect World is one of the first CDs I ever bought. Sorry to say my 15-year-old self very much considered it a love song, though.

I'm the one who listed it - and maybe it is about heartbreak. I think I am being forced to the conclusion that actually I have no idea what most songs are about!

It's a great song.

You guys might enjoy many of the songs on the collection “The Bottle Let Me Down” (not the Merle Haggard album) which is as much for parents as kids. Alejandro Escovido’s “Sad and Dreamy” about a kid hitting the “big 1-0” is particularly nice. And there is an amusing but rather disturbing song about a verrryyyy questional clown named Godfrey. My college age kids still listen to some of it from time to time when they are home but maybe they just feel sorry for us.
