I guess everyone’s lying then. |
So Discovery and Cardinal will stay at 96% capacity while Tuckahoe goes to 120% - 130%+? APS will have to move some students out of Cardinal to make room for the Tuckahoe planning units...."Do you feel lucky? Well, do ya..." |
Who is this hard. They will shift kids to Jamestown and Taylor from Discovery to make room for kids there. There is plenty of room for the kids from Nottingham without impacting Cardinal. Someone several pages ago showed you the math. |
It's cute you think they won't touch Cardinal. Have your fun gloating at Nottingham's fortune now. It'll come your way soon enough. |
Yes they will. Because the under enrolled schools aren't all conveniently next to each other. |
You might want to review the Expanded Walkzones. I seem to recall there are Tuckahoe planning units in the Cardinal Walkzone. Those could easily be sent to Cardinal pushing out places like Madison Manor - who is already on a bus and don't need to go to Cardinal. |
You mean this walkzone map? Are there really about 40 students on a bus to Tuckahoe when they could walk to Cardinal? Planning unit 16060? ![]() |
Where are the kids from madison manor going to go? The point is why would they do this when they can solve their problems keeping it in the northern most schools. No one is addressing this with an actual answer. I don’t have kids affected by this so just being logical. |
What are you talking about. They are. Its easy to shift Discovery kids to Jamestown and Taylor to make room for Nottingham kids. |
You think APS is just going to decide all this based on who can walk and be bused where??? Good one. If that was the case Madison manor would have been bused to tuckahoe when cardinal opened and all the walkable kids would already be at cardinal!!!! |
The Notties are trying to get the newbie Tuvkahoe and Discovery parents tied in knots. The capacity is there at those schools to absorb some Nottingham kidsand to the extent it isn’t, they aren’t going to flood them with hundreds of kids. They may move a bus riding unit or two. It’s not a crisis for anyone. The Notties just want to keep their under enrolled school because. Just because. Buy in with the Notties at your own peril. |
You might want to look at the Tuckahoe walkzone - Plenty of Nottingham students are going to Tuckahoe which can't take anymore trailers. |
You people are so new here. The walk zones don’t matter. |
The “Notties?” Really? It’s not like the Sharks versus the Jets. Again, all of these schools are the SAME. The only real difference is that Jamestown has a richer cohort at the top. Our kid went to Tuckahoe and Nottingham and if you closed your eyes before walking into either building you’d never know the difference. The parent and student populations are identical. You’re all getting worked up over some crazy fear that three years from now the system will pack one Lilly white school over capacity in some deliberate attempt to screw it over while leaving every other Lilly white school unscathed. It’s so over the top and bizarre. The bottom line is that every one of these schools is currently underused and the the school system’s finances aren’t infinite. They will work out a redistricting plan that works for most and everyone will be fine. You won’t even notice the switch. I promise.
So much privilege on display here. It’s insane. |
What does matter are the students that don't want to leave Discovery and Tuckahoe has limited capacity. That will force students into Cardinal (who should go there below Langston). This will create a domino effect pushing students out of Cardinal to Ashlawn. |
