This is an mcps, law enforcement and parent issue. Everyone needs to work together. |

“One B-CC student who sells nicotine as well as THC (or marijuana) products to numerous students at B-CC admits, “When I get it from another trapper [slang for a dealer] then it’s from their supplier, which is likely homemade,” adding “you really don’t know what is in it since it’s not r
This says it all right here. These kids are just wannabe thugs and are emulating pop culture. Imagine a Bethesda kid talking about Trap culture.
Many of the kids at bcc come from silver spring. Lytonsville. Lots of subsidized housing with a lot of food insecurity. Something like 20% of BCC’s student body is FARMs. Not sure if you’ve spend much time in that area but there are true thugs who live there and subsequently attend BCC not just wannabe ones.
Stop it with your racist blame shifting of drug dealing to Silver Spring and minority kids. I am a BCC parent and my kids told me one of the school pot dealers was a kid from his spirits team who lived with his parents in the Town of Chevy Chase. I am so freaking tired of people thinking the rich white kids can do no wrong at BCC.
You are so right. MCPS needs to look into these kids who know so much about the in-school drug dealers and they will find their answers. This exposé was simply an autobiography of the priviledged kids.
I am PP. If by the bold you mean that MCPS should lean on the student journalists who wrote the article for The Tattler, in order to get them to divulge their sources, you should know that student journalists are protected by the First Amendment, just like all US citizens. Any student journalists who are approached or pressured by the administration to divulge information should contact the ACLU for representation. BCC administrators should know that attempts by the prior principal (not Mooney) to pressure Tattler journalists to reveal info or stop publishing info were unsuccessful. If by autobiography, you are implying that the Tattler journalists are the ones selling drugs, then shame on you. |
Interestingly, drug use in schools has gone up since SROs were eliminated. |
They and MoCo were sued by the Magruder victim's parents. They'll spend more time and money fighting that rather than making helpful changes. |
I do not understand why the Principal can’t shut this stuff down. |
In all honesty, I am very impressed MoCo has student newspapers. They always have. It's not the same standard across the river in FCPS |
Another student ODed today and had to be revived with Narcan. This happened during QO lunch at the McDonald's across the street. I'm Gen x, we had crack but I don't remember anyone ODing during school hours. These kids are under a whole different ball.game. |
Yes, it's MCPS fault. They were supposed to raise my kid! |
I thought they said it went down at the BOE meeting earlier this week. |
absolutely not. |
I was under the impression students weren't allowed in this McDonalds anymore but I guess not. |
Yeah, it is definitely worse now. Not sure if it’s the same in every county, but it’s terrible here in MCPS. It’s become a weekly issue at one school or another. |
Impossible to enforce. How would that even work? |
Does QO have open lunch? I know one of the problems at our school is that despite it not being open lunch, the security guards are not enforcing or stopping students from leaving the building during lunch hour. |
It's national. The drugs are not made in the same way. They can be laced wit fentanyl and veterinary tranquilizer, either of which can be lethal. Fentanyl is lethal in minuscule amounts. One laced pill and you're dead. Users are engaging in Russian roulette. Dealers are playing with people's lives. The latter should definitely face charges. |
