This. She is a great OB, while I had her years ago (over 17) if she would have moved at the time I would have greatly appreciated knowing where she was , as I would have 100% switched to stay with her services. Very compassionate and knowledgeable about her craft. |
Let’s be clear: the Alloy email, which I received, was not informing former patients how to follow dr Malone. It was offering to sell you “bio identical plant based hormones” “right to your door.” The kind of medical online presence most DCUM would scoff at. But somehow some want to give her a pass. The use of the emails was HER violation. |
Is Dr. Malone alleging the facts presented in the letter are untrue? If not, the letter states she gave patient information protected by HIPAA
(PHI) to a third party, Alloy, without patient permission. That’s a HIPAA violation. https://www.hhs.gov/hipaa/for-individuals/guidance-materials-for-consumers/index.html I don’t understand why there is any murkiness to that conclusion and why this means that previous posters are “unhinged.” I support the Democrats, but certainly think this should be a discussion grounded in facts. Just because you disagree with someone presenting facts doesn’t mean they are unhinged. Isn’t that the Republicans’ stock response about Cassidy Hutchinson and her January 6-related testimony? |
This. |
Completely shocking and unbecoming. |
You are clueless. |
I've got no dog in this fight but you clearly are trying to shut this down. What she did was horrible and there will be repercussions. |
Exactly. |
The practice cannot give her permission to violate HIPPA. It is a Federal law. |

I saw Dr. Malone at Foxhall and thought she was a terrific physician. Totally professional. Very surprised to read all of this; I give her the benefit of the doubt not knowing the whole story. (I got a letter too.) |
It really doesn't matter if she's a nice person and good doctor or your good friend, what matters is that it was unethical for her to steal the list of contact information and use it for marketing purposes at her new company. I would have given her the benefit of the doubt if she was switching practices and sent her new contact info to her existing patients, but that's not what happened, and what she did is unethical and unprofessional. There is no benefit of doubt to be given here. |
Can y'all at least get the acronym right? Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA).

Her ratings are not all that great, according to Healthgrades:
