My Little China Girl
I Think I'm Turning Japanese |
Yes it does but unlike in the early eighties, now people are more apt to judge a song’s lyrics and when they do, the song along with the musical group can be canceled immediately. |
I am 100 percent Asian and at the time, loved both these songs. However I found the video of the latter song very offensive because the way the singers slanted their eyes with their fingers. |
| Brown Sugar |
That song is about masturbation isn’t it? |

YMCA. If you didn't know it was by the Village People, would it make a difference?
|
| Almost any Rolling Stones song from the period when Brian Jones was in the band: Stupid Girl, Backstreet Girl, Under my Thumb, Yesterday's Papers, et al. Brian Jones was not very nice to women, let us say. By contrast, Mick was and is a perfect gentleman. |
I cannot express how much I love that the MAGAs use this at their “rallies.” Classic.

People Everyday by Arrested Development sadly has the n* word. Clean version is great otherwise. |
What? No! This was an Afrocentric group whose music had positive uplifting messages. This song could absolutely be made today. |

“Bounce That D*ck” by Jenna Marbles. It’s one of the videos that got her cancelled.
Which is a shame considering all the examples here of songs with pedophilia and sexual assault. The whole song is about how men have been objectifying her since she was a teen and now it’s time to turn things around and let men feel what they put females through. Anytime a woman makes a song objectifying men (like WAP) people freak out. |
Now do Aqualung. |
It was too risqué at the time to even be released as a “B”-side single. |
Still a good song, and the millennials are all listening to 80s and 90s music. I figure a lot of the nasty rap and hip hop tops a lot of these songs. |
No nothing offensive about it. Gave YMCA a boost! |
