Covid from your quarantining child?

This absolutely sucks, but covid is going to be super inconvenient like this.

DCPS says I don’t have to quarantine them so they’re going to school.

Wait - you're seriously sending a kid into school when they may be infected?

Everyone is sending kids to school who may be infected. That's the issue, that the virus spreads silently and we don't know who is infected.

The quarantine procedures keep the kids who are most likely to be infected home. Which is the close contacts. Those kids should test, and watch for symptoms. If they get a positive test or show symptoms, then their family members become close contacts. But if we kept every person who was a close contact of a close contact home then we would have empty classrooms.

Keep in mind that voluntarily quarantining is an unexcused absence. She/he actually doesn’t have a choice but to send her child.
