Sorry, OP. Thanks for trying.
My high risk kids are in school right now and I do not need a lecture about my "health anxiety" from someone who clearly has no idea what it's like to send your high risk children off to a school with less than ideal safety measures in the middle of the Delta surge. |
Op, I'm generally supportive of safe conditions, especially if they keep schools open, but I get really frustrated when I see people start pushing things that interfere with academics. My kids have already lost a ton of ground with the pandemic. They need school. I am not supportive of any measures that interfere with learning. |
Is this post from Ventilation Woman or Lunch Petitioner?
Smart Restart's Twitter page is cranking out 24/7 fear porn for the past week (which Ventilation Woman runs). Today they reTweeted that sending kids back to school is essentially "forced infection of children" and "one of the greatest mistakes in the history of public health." Take a scroll through that Twitter page for the past week - it's doom and gloom, and daily updates whenever any APS kid had even a close contact. So no, I'm not going to stop speaking up with groups like this trying to influence public policy. We all have our own risk tolerances, but groups like this are trying to cram their irrational, non-scientific, quasi-religious views down everyone's throats. |
In all seriousness, why are you so obsessed with these 2 parents? There are so many posts about them, many of which are likely from you. It’s more than a little terrifying and sad. I get that you don’t agree with their message or their tactics, but why are you always personally attacking them? |
I'm all for vaccinating, but testing asymptomatic kids and masking are not scientifically proven. This sounds like someone wanting to shut down any discussion. If a random-controlled trial of masking kids come out showing its effective, then that's fine. However, there's no study that shows masking kids in school is effective. https://nymag.com/intelligencer/2021/08/the-science-of-masking-kids-at-school-remains-uncertain.html In the UK and many Scandinavian countries, kids don't mask in school: https://www.nytimes.com/2021/08/27/us/students-masks-classrooms-britain.html As discussed in the NYMag article, the CDC's own study showed no statistical difference between masking kids and not masking them in school. So no, you don't get to take those topics off the table. |
Take a look at that Twitter page and the fearmongering to the community. If someone is advocating to keep my kids from going to go to school, it is personal. https://twitter.com/smartrestartaps |
I think Lunch Petitioner is this crazy, fearmongering Twitter page (which uses much of the same language Lunch Petitioner uses on her posts on AEM). APE lives rent free in this person's head: https://twitter.com/star_arl They are all about wanting schools to close (once again). |
No one is advocating that. They’re really just not. |
I don't think it's purely about closing schools, but there is really some distressed behavior behind these accounts. Some of these people need to take a break from Twitter and Facebook, platforms that foment a lot of rage and fear. Please keep in mind that many twitter accounts that profess sweeping "greatest in history" claims are often TRYING to provoke a lot of responses, likes, and clicks. |
This bully goes from thread to thread adding nothing of value, just making untrue personal attacks against 2 parents who he even has nicknames for. Whoever said this plea for kindness wouldn't work was sadly right. It doesn't seem to occur to him that more than two parents care about school safety. I have no idea why he keeps accusing people of trying to shut things down either. No one is saying that, he's stuck in a loop though. Most people just ignore him. |
OP you are so insufferable. You are upset because I didn’t like your phony message about kindness? Yiu are exactly the person I mentioned in my post. Your self righteousness is likely not missed by your kids teaches and other parents at the school |
New mask study that was released today https://www.foxnews.com/health/surgical-masks-reduce-covid-19-spread-study "A new study that examined the effects of mask-wearing on the spread of COVID-19 found that even partial adoption helps to limit the spread. " |
Note to OP: I’m a PO who thanked you for trying and I agree we should try to be more civil. But not to this a’hole. Not everyone deserves grace or respect and I just can’t with people like this anymore. |
Some people are just a-holes I guess. |
Really. You want to debate.....masks? ![]() GMAFB. Just homeschool your kid if you can't handle very basic public health things like.....vaccines, masks, and testing. |
