You really need to be objective about your kid and their play on the current team. If they're not starting, it's probably a good indicator that they're replaceable. But that's all relative to the quality of players on the team. If the team has a really bad losing record, probably not a lot of quality players. If a .500 record, maybe some quality players will be kept. The coach is going to want to replace the weaker players with kids that have size, speed and physicality as well as soccer IQ. Soccer IQ can help offset the other 3 attributes. You don't need to have all 3, but speed and physicality is important for smaller players. The coach will also be looking for kids who compete, have a hard work ethic and bring their best to every practice cause that's where most of the gains will happen.
