To fire her now?

OP.

Does she have access to a vehicle? If so, when she forgets an item, she goes and retrieves it. Make a list of items that need to be brought to school/camp each day. The day’s expenses can be tallied before she leaves each day. Nanny and child check the backpack against the list before departing. You don’t say if this is your first nanny but the veteran Mbs on here can tell you her other attributes such as being loved by your children, very reliable and flexible are MUCH harder to find. Trust me on this—you will regret letting her go.

Are you kidding OP? Please send her to me.

Yes, fire her. She definitely deserves a much better employer than you.

Seriously, I feel so sorry for your kids, OP.

Fire her so she can find a good employer.

Had our nanny for only 5 months.

Positives-
Kids absolutely adore her and miss her when she is not there, she is affectionate, warm and engaged.
Very reliable
Flexible in terms of working patterns
Has adapted to a lot of changes (us moving a child to a different school and arranging pick ups around that)

But the following has also happened-
1. Left my 9 year olds bag on a bus
2. Left my 7 year olds sneakers at home when she was doing a sports camp
3. Miscalculated money spent on hours worked and extra activities (All under calculated but still worrying.)
4. Friday, maybe not a big deal but took home my kids swipe cards for a swimming activity. We do not need the cards this week but still, we could well have done.

We need someone who is more 'on the ball '.
Just wanted some thoughts as to what to do here.

You are an effing idiot! Left a book and a sneaker! Fire her so she can find a job with a sane and decent person, which you are not.

This is so ridiculous, it makes me wonder if it’s a troll post. If you’re serious, OP, you need to reevaluate your priorities.

I truly hope she reads this and quits. She deserves so much better. Those poor kids. Can you imagine growing up with this kind of parent?

Sounds like maybe she has some learning/attention disabilities? That doesn't make her a bad childcare provider though. What is your priority? Safe, happy kids or kids who are missing an item here or there?
