Nope, nope, nope

EXACTLY. I would tell my husband he can pick it up, or deal with telling his mom to knock it off.

it sounds like that's what happened

Yeah no one wants to spend their days driving all over town to pick up t-shirts or books that grandma has ordered. Especially when you can get this stuff on Amazon with free shipping or when you can just pay a bit more to have it shipped.

My mom occasionally does this, the ONLY reason I tolerate it is because the store she orders from (Carters) is located in the same plaza as the Target I go to. I just make sure she recognizes it can't be anything that is time sensitive because I'm not going out of my way to make an extra trip.

OMG, this is the kind of thing that makes me want to cry. It's not even the errand that will end up taking an hour that I need to fit into my day-and I've never really had a lunch break, but now lunch break usually means racing to pick my kid up from somewhere because no bus due to COVID. Overall, it's just the lack of acknowledgement of me working harder than ever (small business with 10 employees, if I don't do my job we are all out of work) and more parenting hours than ever and more stress than ever. One of my employees just tested positive for COVID-so that's today's situation. So, this kind of errand is the opposite of "I can see how hard you are working" or "I hope you can take some time for yourself, because I see how hard you've been pushing."

Don’t do this, OP. Either ship directly to them or send them a gift card if you must spend the money.

Oh come on guys. This is the terrible MIL troll. She's always posting things like this

This. And it's none of your business how she spends her time when teleworking. Good grief.

You’re retired right? Why don’t you go pick up in-store and drive each item to your grandchildren since you have nothing else to do with your time?

She’s being nice. I just wouldn’t pick up at all and just have the store refund you. Why not buy on amazon?

Why don’t you expect your son to pick up the gifts? Why is his wife expected to do it?

Cheap!

This. Has to be.

When you WFH, you are really working and do not need ONE MORE thing to do, including picking up unneeded/unwanted "gifts".

Please do not do this!!! Honestly, my mil and my mom send my kids Crap all of the time. We don’t want it! My kids will ever wear the clothes you pick out, and we order school supplies directly from the school. My mom sent a save castle maker that I had to lug to the beach and then take pictures of the kids playing with it. Just stop!!! No one needs more junk.
