How can the teaching profession root out potential sex offenders?

HS teachers and middle school. Many instances of females being the sex offender.

Fire principals that don’t take action or cover things up to transfer the problem out the school. Criminal penalties for administrators that cover up incidents.

In many of the cases, at least in MCPS there always seems to be a history of complaints and inappropriate instances.. if the central administrators and principals have the attitude that it’s easier to hide or ignore the issue then they create an environment that attracts predators.

That will do wonders for the teaching shortage.

While there is teacher shortage, the central office does a very bad job finding candidates who would like to work at school. I never thought I have to know somebody who knows somebody to get a job at a school, or that I need to contact the school directly. My application sat in DCPS office for two years. I got hired by the first school I contacted. How many other qualified people are waiting for a call while schools fill their position by word of mouth!

Most people don't just let their application linger in a central office that long. But in the other public school systems in this area, active applications are reviewed and sent out regularly--there are not qualified applicants lingering, there's a shortage. But if they can fill positions by word of mouth in DCPS, then they don't have a shortage (at least not in your specialty) But there's a nationwide shortage particularly in special education, math and science education, but really across the board. And there's not enough students getting their licenses, so this is projected to get worse.

“Many” not really. Still statistically extremely rare.

This is why MCPS culture is so rotten - and nearly impossible to change. Gosh what is the total number of predators at MCPS the past 10 years? Hard to keep count.

Who is a female? What? What agenda?

Out of how many people though? I mean any is too many but MCPS is a big school district and has a LOT of teachers, staff and admin over a 10 year period. How does it compare per capita with other places?

The teaching profession can't do much more than what they are already doing. Now, if you want cultural change then that would require an overhaul of our country's mental health services, foster care, social services, and reporting system.
