I also heard this from Achilles parent during a scrimmage. That's why they are testing water by playing up U13 in East Coast Premiere.

I can confirm some are going to Achilles while a couple others are also relocating. It will be a much different team than last year, still very good, but just not as good. The top player from that Bethesda team is part of the Achilles bunch.

Supposedly the move is for the coach at Achilles.

What league does Achilles play in?

2010 will be in the ADL

2009 will be MLSNext

But they might also have other teams in various EDP divisions. Not sure.

I heard there was widespread discontent with Gyau's focus and dedication to the team, and that he was stretched too thin between his college coaching and robust private training business.

Very interesting… I believe it.

It could have also been access to adequate practice fields for kids with that level of talent and commitment. I would often see this team practicing on tennis courts and the crappy fields at old Tilden…..

It will be interesting to see if the kids who moved to Achilles end up enrolling at St. John’s in a few years. For those who missed it, there was a fascinating thread about Sal’s questionable ethics in mixing his St. John’s and Achilles coaching roles, and it also shed light on the absolutely unethical behavior of the baseball program there: https://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/828872.page

I can tell by the OP intro statement in that thread that this was going to get juicy. Going to get my popcorn.

Achilles borrowed some kids from other clubs to play surf cup. Those guest players guess play a lot and it does not mean they are leaving their original club.

Sounds like you were the one with the misinformation.

Spoiler alert. The soccer part petered out. The baseball part will make any decent person’s blood boil.

So is Achilles better than BSC? Coaching? Development? Game? Teamwork?

The comment is directed at your apparent enthrallment with this drama, not from the exchange of info about youth soccer. But sure, add that to the diet of lies and popcorn you feed yourself every day to tell yourself that you are no different or worse than others. Extra butter while you are at it.
