trying to get more fiber into 2 year old DD's diet- recommendations for chews/powders?

Not apple sauce! Think about the BRAT diet when a kid has diarrhea - bananas, rice, apple sauce and toast. All should be avoided (maybe not toast) when a kid is constipated.

Pediatric GI seems to hate fiber gummies. Recommended Fruit-eze instead. Heather’s Tummy Fiber works great for me. I have tried it on my kids yet. Start really small.

We also had luck with mineral oil. My daughter would just drink it straight because we told her it was poop medicine, but you could also mix it in food or drink. (also check out the video the poo in you on YouTube), my daughter also really liked to watch that. With her it was more a withholding issue though, so might be different for you!

Witholding often starts after constipation causing a painful poo, which makes the constipation worse and turns into a viscous cycle

Too much fiber can cause serious intestinal problems OP! It must be coupled with extra water.

Why not just try probiotic instead??? And side salads with dinner.

Culturelle has a kids probiotic with fiber added. For my constipation-prone 3 year old we do that 2x a day mixed with pear juice. It doesn't solve the constipation totally for him, but it definitely works better than anything else we've tried.

The fruit that works like a charm for my kid is Mango. Like a 1/4 mango a day and she's in good shape. Kiwi also works pretty well.

I think a diet that's naturally rich in fiber should do the trick - beans, lentils, oatmeal, plenty of fruit and vegetables. Avoid dairy and white bread. Make sure to include yogurt to get some good probiotics into the system. We are vegetarian and these have always been a part of our diet and I can honestly say I've never had to deal with constipation with either of my kids.

Also, we used prunes for a slightly different reason - to get the kid on to a daytime poop cycle after long-haul travel - night time poop is the worst side effect of jet lag. We used to use prunes at breakfast only to make sure the poop would happen during the daytime.

Does anyone have any recommendations for non-chewy fiber supplements or powders I could mix in her drinks?

Thank you.

Feed her avocados. there are 13g in one avocado. Add to smoothies, put half on her plate.
