Crib to Bed Transition

She's 2.5. WE have DC2 due sometime in the next few weeks and I'm really nervous about my toddler's ability to get any sleep once we introduce a new baby into the equation.

Is 2 year old too big for crib? I'd just buy 2nd crib if you can.

If she still likes the crib and isn’t able to climb out, don’t move her. If she is climbing out and it’s time for a bed, set up a camera in the room and lock the door. Go in and check on her, walk her back to bed if she fusses.

We used a sleep sack and it never occurred to our kids that they could climb out of the crib! Both stayed until three and since both dropped their nap by then they fell right to sleep and slept 12 hours. We did keep the overnight pull ups longer than we should have tho (both were potty trained by 22 months) since we didn’t want to get up to help use the potty.

OP here - trust me, I would not have moved my toddler this close to baby #2's arrival if I felt I had a choice. We plan to have the baby in our room for 5-6 months anyway, so we weren't in a rush to move the crib. But DD was climbing out of her crib consistently. We had tried the usual tricks, including putting her in a sleep sack backwards and she managed to rip the zipper open ever night somehow (she couldn't reach the top of the zipper so literally just physical force). With her climbing, we felt it safer to remove the sleepsack and if she's getting out of bed anyway, it seemed like a good time to just move the crib so she doesn't feel like we kicked her out for the new baby.
