Mine was also huge like that and off the charts at either his 4 mos or 6 mos appointment or both. He started RUNNING at around 9 or 10 months (didn't actually walk until much later), and that thinned him out some, although I'm not sure that was any easier on me. Do you have a good baby carrier? I really liked the Ergo for him. I could never just carry him around on my hip. I had friends with petite little babies and I would pick them up and it felt like picking up a doll -- they were so light and easy! Be sure not to throw your back out carrying him.
By preschool he was basically normal size, if maybe on the stocky/muscular side -- I remember Carter's pants were always too skinny for him. Hanna Anderson worked a lot better.
He's 12 now and is 5'4", 125 (same as me before my COVID weight!), which seems to be about in the middle of the pack for his age, but he's definitely got an athletic build (not a skinny one). He has always eaten a lot, especially protein. As a baby, he nursed constantly, was an enthusiastic adopter of solids, etc. At least now he just goes to the fridge and gets himself a bowl of cottage cheese, or gets a bowl of cereal of whatever, but he still eats every couple of hours unless he's at school. I feel like the next couple of years are going to be rough on my grocery bill.
