Baby won’t nap in bassinet

Ours slept in the gliding thing. I watched her though.

He will sleep in it at night but during the day he wakes up after about 5 minutes and starts freaking out. Or he will just lay in the bassinet and look around, sometimes for an hour or more. He’s a ridiculously alert baby, which seems weird at 7 weeks. Sleeps very well in a carrier, in the car, in his bouncer (but then we move him out as soon as he falls asleep). I’ve done so much research and am trying everything I can. Dark, cool room; sound machine; swaddle, etc. Nothing seems to work. Any recommendations on what to do? Will he grow out of this? The last week or so I’ve basically given up and have just worn him most of the time so he will sleep and won’t get overtired, but I really want him to nap in the bassinet.

Be careful if using a sound machine. You will need it going forth and I have read not do great on babies hearing. Do what you have to do to survive.

Both our kids napped in carriers until about 3-4 months when we sleep trained for nights and naps. Felt like eternity but it was a quick phase.

That sounds exhausting.

I’m a SAHM and she was my first child. It was honestly kind of nice - it gave me an excuse to sit down and read. My husband thought me helping her with her naps was “work,” so he would take over other things while I did the very hard task of sitting on the couch haha. But at 10 months it was too distracting for her to sleep on me, so I did a day of CIO to get her to nap in the crib, and she ended up taking longer naps and it was better for both of us.
