Or you could, just give the school a heads up.
I'm not here for DCPS to complain about your international adoption or kid's national musical competition. I'm here for them to protect Relisha Rudd. |
| I don’t think this is a dumb question at all, I have a rising PK3 and have been wondering the same thing. Also about dropping off late. We are in daycare now and I drop him off whenever. It’s been pretty late for drop off a lot during the pandemic, so it will be an adjustment. Basically wondering how much different PK in DCPS is from a commercial daycare… |
Legally you have until I believe up to the minute before school ends, this is not special to PK. I teach K and I seriously had a parent bring their child at maybe a few min after 2:30…we dismiss K at 3:10. |
I’d advise dropping off whenever. It can be disruptive to the teacher and the rest of the class. Maybe some schools don’t care, but I wouldn’t assume that. I found PK3 to be very different from daycare in that way. |
| There is a lot of benefit to encouraging your child to adjust to the structure, schedule and expectations of school. It is comforting to a child when they know what to expect. I would advise against “dropping off whenever”. Your child we have a tough transition to kindergarten if they were allowed to arrive whenever during pre-K. |
| Yeah - I would definitely not drop off whenever - super annoying to the teacher and makes it harder for your child. |
This is a nightmare and ridiculous! Thanks for sharing, incoming PK3 here and I had no idea! |
| It’s PreK…the teacher will probably tell your child to have a wonderful trip and that he/she will be missed! Brace yourself! |
| DCPS has to report to CPS when a student has 10 unexcused absences. That starts in K though. For pre-K, they would schedule a meeting with the family after 5 unexcused absences. |
