Are guinea pigs smelly?

Yes, they stink. But they are adorable anyway.

Not much if they are cleaned at least weekly. They are adorable and make great pets.

How are they expensive?

We are thinking about getting a pair.

No. They’re relatively cheap at the pet stores and you can always find them up for adoption at shelters. However, what can get pricey is there upkeep. Since they have to be changed weekly there is a cost of bedding, they eat a lot of hay, , the food pellets and they do need fresh leafy greens and vegetables.

Now that I type all of it out they are very needy! But, they’re very lovable and affectionate. My kids adore them and they are very responsible about feeding them and even cleaning them out.

Some people have suggested fleece instead of bedding. I would caution against this because you’re washing it in the same washing machine as your clothing and that washing machine could get very smelly.
