Is this team likely to come to fruition?

Also the league the teams are in will have an effect on how the can use guest players. Ecnl has different rules than ccl or than ncsl or than edp

Team is in NCSL

NCSL rules can only play for 1 ncsl team per day just fyi.

Oh wow, this is OP, I thought that was only for tornaments? This year my son guest played for another team in the club (regular season game) and then his own club on the same day. We obviously would not have done that if we knew it was against the rules.

That was a covid season exception for the past fall and spring. The ncsl is going back to normal 1 game per team per day rule.

Oh ok. At least we didn't do anything wrong (given the exception in place at the time).

My son is on the team one above, but his best friend accepted an offer for this team. Are they likely to be able to get enough players? I would say something and suggest that his friend try out or contact other clubs if not, but leave it alone and say nothing to the friend's family if they are likely to be able to field the team.

It shouldn't be a problem to fill the team if it's around U13-U15/U16. One of our children's clubs was in a situation like that last year with a team and picked up 5 additional players in the summer without advertising. They were mostly families who moved here. I think it gets harder when kids are HS juniors or seniors.

I also think guest playing will be easy to work out. If it's a big enough club with multiple teams per age group it probably has clout in the leagues, and can make one team's games on Saturday and another's on Sunday so players can do 2 games in a weekend.

Yes, it will be find OP. Why would you care so much about your DC's friend's team anyway?

Honestly? For all your worry, DS was on a team like this last year, and it worked out great.
They had I think 12 on the roster and they borrowed a guest player from another team for most games. They got so much playing time everyone was really happy, and the boys really bonded. Our other option had been a team with a bloated roster where he would have sat out most games. Last year was the best use of our money and time in club sports ever.

Um, because my son has been friends with him since they were five years old and I care about him and want him to have a team to play on (which I assume he wants as well)?

He will have a team to play on. You sound like a weirdly anxious person with a young child. U13? This type of situation comes up from time to time, and they make it work.
