| No, that's disgusting. |
| No. My husband does and I can’t stand it since the stick of butter is not dedicated for the corn. The rest of the family cuts off a piece of butter. |
| No. I did not know this was a thing. |
|
OP here. Thanks for the replies. Sounds like most don't do it and, if you do, you wouldn't do this outside of your home.
If a close family member (MIL or FIL) did this in your home, would you reprimand them for it, or just decide that the loss of a $1 stick of butter a few times a year is something you are OK with (or maybe you'd just never serve corn again LOL)? |
Uh, we'd never serve THOSE PEOPLE corn again. Other, normal people? Sure. |
| Never. I cut off a pat of butter and run it down the corn. |
This is what I grew up using and we have one now. The only challenge is that it is designed for west coast butter which is a shorter/fatter stick of butter. |
|
I didn't start doing this until late in life living by myself, but yeah. Only at home though.
Corn is good anyway, but butter makes it (as Garrison Keillor said may years ago) better than sex. |
| We butter a slice of bread and roll the corn around in it. Works great. |
I don’t judge my guests.
|
|
None of this is necessary.
Brush or spread a little softened butter onto the corn, sprinkle with salt and pepper, and grill it. |
| Yes at home and it does not ruin the stick of butter. |
| No and I think it’s gross. |
Wouldn’t reprimand a guest for this and wouldn’t think a stick of butter was ruined by doing this. |
+1. I don't think it is polite. But I would never be offended/say something/huck out my corn for this infraction. Now if some had started eating from their cob and then did this I'd probably be horrified, move the corn closer to them and make sure none of my kids or family tried to use the butter. |
