FWIW, we went with an IUD (Mirena) even though we are hoping to get pregnant again in about two years. It's only been a few weeks (got it at week 8 post-partum) and so far, so good. The insertion/placement was easy and no more uncomfortable than a pap smear, and I LOVE the fact that we can be spontaneous and I don't need to worry about pills. Plus, insurance covered the whole thing -- even better than having to pay my co-pay every month for BCPs! |
I also got pregnant when taking the mini pill - I was religious about it. I took it at the same time everyday - had an alarm on my cell phone and in my house so that no matter where I was it went off and I took the pill. Needless to say this pregnancy is quite a shock when I have a 6 month old crawling around the floor! |
Yes, birth control pills are an option for nursing moms and should be used since nursing does not equal contraception!!
My OB prescribed mine at the 2 week postpartum appointment and it was a regular prescription equivalent to what I was taking before pregnancy (not mini pill). |
Wow. Wow. That terrifies me right now. I'm about to give birth to #2. Your babies and mine will have the same spacing between them. Good luck. |
