Public vs Private HS for getting recruited

So yes, private school is a factor. But the public school kid can rely on their club for help in recruiting.

So true!!

Well, the best player on a public school team is most likely grade/age correct and majority of the private school (men) are at least one year older

Granted, grade inflation is rampant everywhere but I guess straight As in public school doesn’t hold the same weight as straight As in private school.

This post is mixing realities...top lacrosse programs aren't necessarily at top colleges or even highly selective colleges. The schools with top lacrosse programs are chock full of public school students. So it's not about the colleges having faith in the public school system, and more about the college lacrosse coaches knowing where the level of LACROSSE play is likely higher....which is a drop in the bucket from the standpoint of total admissions.

Syracuse isn't academically rigorous...nor is Univ of MD...nor is BU..what are you talking about? Those are safety schools for most academically inclined students...

This is idiotic. MD has gotten pretty hard to get into and their engineering programs are great. The Cuse communications school is great (and you apply to it separately). Lots of good choices and fits. I live in VA, if my kid wanted to go to GMU for comp sci or cybsersecurity, I’d say all in. Liberal arts, not so much. The Ivies and NECSAC do have more privates but that may because of who can afford it as much as anything. Private school gets scouted more, go to NHSLS and see. A few publics there that have a history of placing kids like Ridgewood NJ.

Do you think it closer to a 75-25 split on the girls side and more like a 90-10 on the boys, relative to private schools to public school opportunities for the kids?

On the girls side, it depends on the program. Some top lax schools like Syracuse has most of their roster public school kids instead of private school. Just my two cents but it is extremely inaccurate top just throw out a blanket statement that 75% of all girls college players for top programs come from private schools. All depends on the schools location within the country. for example, we all know that Long Island is dominated by mostly all public schools, where the DC area is all private schools.

Depends on what area of country. Long Island, Hudson valley and upstate New York public schools are loaded with talent and all over division one rosters. DMV might be private but not everywhere.

Their acceptance rate is 44.2%. If that's "hard to get into" then you're in for a rude awakening.

I am not suggesting once in you cannot get a good education. I am responding to OP who said, "I have noticed that for top programs the majority of college rosters are filled with kids who attended private schools. Do the top colleges lack faith in public school education?" That is insane because the top lacrosse programs are not necessarily competitive colleges so education is not the measurement here. Lacrosse athleticism is. Even public school kids look at many (not all) of the top lacrosse schools as safety schools.
