Everyone knows the cool moms drive cuvs. |
| A nicely equipped hybrid Sienna is $50k +. I can think of a lot of better cars for that money. |
Unless you want AWD. |

The Odyssey/Sienna choice brings out a fierce rivalry where loyalists claim supremacy for minor differences, while the rest of the population says "they are the same, no difference." It's a low-energy version of what the Ford/Chevy pickup truck debate is for a different demographic.
In both cases, the Chrysler product is yelling "hey, look at me" from the sidelines and most folks ignore it. |
| How many car seats do you have to deal with? I got the Odyssey because I don’t like how the Pacifica drives, but the second row stow doesn’t save you that much time if you’re hauling out heavy seats anyway, and the Odyssey second row lateral movement is amazing for letting kids in and out of the third row. |
| You can get a fully loaded Pacifica for $10-$15k cheaper than the Odyssey or Sienna even with the online 8 year warranty deal. If you are just buying a minivan for convenience and safety then Pacifica is the way to go. That said, people are so obsessed with the Odyssey that you can sell a used 5 year model for about $35k then upgrade so keep that in mind if you're buying new. |
| Pacifica all the way. Love mine, and have had 70k problem-free miles thus far. Stow-ngo seating is amazing, plus it drives better than the Honda. |
| My mom drives a Pacifica. Lacks the zip of the sienna ir all the bells and whistles but if you want a minivan for the space and convenience it’s a good choice. As someone else pointed out it’s also a relatively hassle free car with their warranties. |

I have an Odyssey but drove a rental Sienna Hybrid for this past week. The fuel economy was amazing - averaged about 37mpg for the whole trip of around 500 miles of mixed highway and local driving, including a few days in a major city.
For everything else, I do prefer the Odyssey, but acknowledge that the Sienna is a fine van for hauling the family around. |
Hahaha. I wish this were true. Nowhere close. But I have a 5 year old Odyssey to sell if you can get me $35k for it. |
I know the PP is just joking, and I don't have a 5-year-old Odyssey. But I do have an out-of-warranty 3.5-year-old 2018 Elite. Carvana offered me $36k for it. That means they can make a few thousand on top of that... meaning there are quite a bit of people out there willing to pay quite a bit of money for a used Honda Odyssey. |

The used car market is insane right now and it's unlikely to that any used car will have a resale value any other time that is as high as it is today.
I have a Pacifica PHEV that I love. But it does't have the stow and go seats that your DH wants because the EV battery is where the seats would be stowed in the floor. I test drove all the vans and liked the Pacifica the best so that's what I bought. I'll worry about problems later, if they manifest. So far, nothing has broken. |
5 year old Ody owner here. So are you going to do it? What would you get instead? Does Carvana do the quote online? |
Honda reliability isn’t great these days either. |
Spot on. |
