Boy vs Girl Lacrosse

When a new player is starting out, he will probably play a number of positions. If I recall most of the leagues have goalie gear for the players as they typically encourage each player to play in the cage at least once. It has been awhile for us though and procedures might have changed.

Thanks, I've looked at Bethesda, and they might be an option if he really wants to play in the spring. I'll look at Next Level.

I'll get some goalie gear for the backyard. I agree that if he decided to play with anyone else, he should play a variety of position to learn the game, but my guess is he'd end up in the cage if he played long term. He plays soccer and ice hockey, and prefers the goal for both of those, although we make sure he gets some field time too.

It's always good to know how to play goalie b/c rec teams don't always have a dedicated goalie and will just have the kids rotate through, and if there's an important hockey tournament at the same time as a travel lax game, your travel lax team might not have a goalie either.

See the thread on Cavalier 2027 Hoco team on why more kids who know the goalie position is a good thing.
