Negril, the Jamaican takeout. Incredible carrot cake.

Harris Teeter has a good carrot cake. And they make a smaller one too, which is convenient.

Cheesecake Factory’s carrot cake is my favorite.

Publix has the very best carrot cake. Just in case you're out in the burbs and can get to one, I thought I would mention it.

Have you had one recently? I used to like their carrot cake, but they changed the recipe to this dry, bland version that is not worth eating.

Weirdly, Pret(-A-Manger) used to sell one of the best carrot cakes commercially available. It was so good. Of course, Pret is not so ready-to-eat any more, now that the stores are closed in DC.

Pastries by Randolph is my favorite.

(I have not had good experiences with buttercream cakes from the Cake Room in Adams Morgan, can't speak about their carrot cake.)

this will make your husband happy
I got this yesterday and while it was great taste-wise, the frosting layers are thicker than the cake layers. I had this same problem with a cake I bought from a different bakery last year. What's up with that! I prefer the frosting layers to be thinner than the cake layers.
