Why would I buy a car in DC or MD over VA?

Dealer fee at VA dealerships can vary quite a bit, as it's not capped by law. Average is about $500, on par with Maryland, which is capped by law at $500.

That's why always negotiate out the door price between dealers from different states. It shouldn't matter to you what their dealer fees are.
