Former nanny and now parent. Care.com is absolutely terrible. There are multiple stories of their background checks coming back “ clear” but the nanny has a record. Some as minor as speeding, and some as major as assault and battery. I wouldn’t hold it against the nannies, but I would make sure to do an independent background check. I really like enannysource.com. Their backgrounds are similarly priced and I’ve used it on myself as a nanny and now I’m current nannies and sitters.

Yep, enannysource is pretty good.

Skip sittercity's check, it's equivalent to care's and also through Sterling.

Nannies4hire had the best site and their background checks were great (no results for 4 days, because gee... they did more than run a 15 second computer scan...). However, the company that bought them out changed everything.

Remember this OP.

Anyone w/Internet access can create a profile on Care.com & label themselves as a Nanny.
There truly are no checks or balances.

I would go with a respected, local Nanny agency.
Sure you will pay more, but you cannot put a price tag 🏷 on quality + safe childcare.
