clearly you haven't been outside on a hot humid day with a mask on. it will be blazing hot outside - what do you mean, "what's the big deal?". It's also not a material health risk to go maskless outside. how about just your kid wears the mask (since that's how you feel) -- what's the big deal?

I have indeed been outside in all weather with a mask on, as have my kids. We have successfully avoided contracting COVID this way. It is proven that masks prevent transmission. Therefore, until children are eligible for vaccination, they should be required to wear masks. It's not hard. Of course everyone would prefer not to wear one. Everyone would also prefer that there wasn't a global pandemic. Mask discomfort is a small price to pay to stay alive. So yes, my kid will wear the mask, thank you!

I think most camps will be at the mercy of their insurance coverage on this. Kids are not vaccinated. Insurance companies no longer cover communicable disease leaving the business exposed to litigation. My money is on masks until the 3-11 year olds have the vaccine, especially if indoors.

Mmm, interesting ... My 12 yr old is getting his second dose tomorrow. But he is so used to wearing mask every where at this point. Sometimes, he doesn't even realize he's walking around in the house with mask after he comes back from school. I guess it's all about perspective.

Our sailing camp required masks last year whenever kids were off the boats, which meant during any dry land instruction or breaks as well as indoors, and campers ate their lunches spaced well apart.

But based on the most recent email this week, it looks like this year masks will only be required indoors for campers.

I should also note that they're still keeping groups and staff cohorted through the week, and kids sail with the same crew every day.
