Are pop up tents allowed at parks?

Are we talking camping tent or one of those toy tents that looks like a little castle?

In Annapolis? That's a full day activity

Yeah. Sort of… I wouldn’t call that Annapolis, but yes right before the bridge. It’s one of the few places you could probably get away putting up a tent.

Did you promise your kids you would put up a tent in the park and are looking for a spot? If you don’t have a yard maybe you could ask someone you know if you could borrow theirs.

The question was do you want to go to a playground, or go running or do a picnic with a tent. One kid said go running, one said picnic with a tent. I don't want to be a liar and not have the tent.

But I'll work it out. Maybe not the national mall because we already go there too often. But there are dozens of parks around here and I'm sure I could set one up somewhere. If not, I'll talk to DW about a trip to Annapolis.

I guess it's more of a camping tent. Definitely not a castle. But it's literally one the we can unzip and throw up and buy the time it lands its a tent. Putting it away is harder but it's cool for the kids.

You don't mean a tent tent, right? You mean a canopy like an EZ Up?

new poster here. I was also assuming you meant a canopy.

Why would you want a tent like that for a picnic?

Kids love the tent. It's not really a picnic, just getting out of the house. The tent blocks the sun though and i can let them go potty inside.

So the plans this weekend are probably going to be postponed because of rain, but does national park service run all the parks in dc? I'm wondering if I can just go to a neighborhood one or a smaller one and just play with the kids there.

Since I have more time I may try to call a number like national park service or whoever does it in Maryland and Virginia to get more concrete answers.

Thanks though

It looks like a homeless shelter, so i would say no.

You realize it’s going to storm most of the weekend?

FYI- Greenbelt National Park campground is closed for construction.

I wouldn't give a second glance if you did this in a neighborhood park, especially one that had a playground.

In my neighborhood downtown people would assume you were homeless. Letting the kids go to the bathroom inside, wtf? Doesn’t the tent have a floor? This is all very strange. I’m sure your toddler is over it by now. If not book a real campground. There are several in the area.
