What is the hourly rate?

We just used them sporadically. In the off season primarily. With practice schedule and games and other things there wasn’t much time during the season.

DD has been doing individual work for about an hour every day without any trainers for the last couple of years. She just takes the ball to the driveway or backyard and does her workout. Her skills have skyrocketed.

We started at 10ish when DS lost all his confidence on the field and I didn't see any chance of that improving without an intervention of some sort or dropping back to rec.

Results were not immediate but great over time, once a week for an hour. It is a combination of a few things, one the attention on technical skills, two, planned homework which even if partially followed has results, and three, DS looks up to and wants to impress the trainer.

Thanks all. It does seem prevalent and unfortunately not cheap. Many clubs offered additional practices and training like striker training, agility etc and those didn’t happen due to COVID. I can see how private training has stepped up over last year or so.

Do 2-3 sessions with a trainer and ask if you can record sessions. This allows your DC to practice on his/her own at home. Another option is watching YouTube videos. There are countless good soccer technical skills and drills videos on YouTube.

Where do you live. It would be easier to recommend a training for your area.

This is OP. I actually don’t want a trainer, really can’t afford it easily. It is likely fun for the kids but I’m not trying to prepare a college recruit here, just let him play at high school level if so desired. Trying to gauge if it is a necessary expense. Thx all.

This. Haven't needed to use private training b/c my two DS put in the work every day on their own. The technical gap relative to their peers continues to widen. I don't think they're missing out by focusing on the fundamentals at home. But it does take a certain mentality to bring it day in and day out.

Playing soccer isn't even necessary. C'mon man.
