I would say that's the bare minimum. 18 is better, especially given the potential for a player or to to have to miss any given game. At U13, players are adjusting to a larger field, so endurance/conditioning is more of an issue than in later years. If you don't have enough subs, that can make for rough second halves when your team is wearing down and the other team has fresh legs because they have twice as many subs. |
I'm sure your kid will be very happy when the team loses because they were missing key players. |
You're not alone. Wow. |
Ours had 20–and we had at least 2-3 injured each week plus a second goalie. |

We always have too many. 18-20 is far too many at U13.
Kids get conditioning and become better players when they play the majority of a game. By teens (U15+), the goal should be a full 90 min. |
because not every kid in the DMV is rich enough to have a car to drive themselves. Their parents not being able to pay and being in need of scholarships would be a clue. |
I agree. Our Club has quite a few kids on Scholarships and we not only have to give them rides, but also pay Team Fees to cover for them. If they come on their own, they are always late and don't always show up for practices. Respect and commitment has nothing to do with money! |
| We have 15-16. If we don't have enough for subs for a game, we pull from the team below to guest. |
This is ideal at big Clubs and it gives kids on lower teams opportunities. |
