I never mind if a kid can't make it, because it means more playing time for those who are able to make it to the match. (And that will be reciprocated whenever my DC can't make a match.)
And as a coach who cares about playing time for the players, if you have a large roster, honestly it's easier when you only have about 3-4 subs. Everyone gets ample playing time, the team has a chance to find continuity on the pitch and play through mistakes, and I can focus more on the match than trying to figure out playing time equity. |
