Virginia Highway Use Fee for Hybrid/Electric Vehicles?

I think the fee is reasonable and I have to pay it for my fuel efficient vehicle. BTW as gas emissons have gotten better, it's the heavier electric cars that are putting more wear on the roads and also are just as cupable to emitting particulates from break dust

Any vehicle that is rated for 25mpg or better pays some amount of a fee. It’s not just EVs and hybrids.

We drive our EV and PHEV each about 6k miles a year so we signed up for the Mileage Choice program. We don’t mind paying our fair share to replace lost revenue, but the fee was many times more than we would otherwise pay in state gas taxes driving an ICE vehicle. This at least let’s us pay a lower rate based on miles driven.

My issue with Mileage Choice is that you’re charged for driving on roads out of state. So if you have a hybrid and fill up in Maryland, you pay taxes to Md for use of their roads while also paying taxes to Virginia for the miles driven in Md with that gas. So you’re effectively taxed twice.

Lol which VA roads are YOU driving on? It's like driving on cobblestone everywhere!! Let's not forget the lack of reflective paint so when it's dark and rainy you can't see a thing!!!
