Expectant and Postpartum Moms
|
I've been with RHJ for years now for my annual exams and just had a baby with them in December.
I haven't been to the downtown office in probably 3 years, so I can't speak to that, but I never had a super long wait at Chevy Chase. But, parking is miserable there. I would always metro/bus when I could. But, it's Friendship Heights, so what do you expect for parking? I love Dr. Engel; I wouldn't have minded him delivering my baby. I also can't recommend Dr. Loveland enough. She would be my first choice for delivering my baby, hands down. I hated Dr. Osmun and will refuse to see him if I have another pregnancy; he's a tool and full of bs. But, there are tons of people on this board who love him. I just think he's an idiot; young and inexperienced with a bad bedside manner. And it's funny that a pp said how nice Sharon is. I've always found her a little intimidating, but that's probably also because she bitches at me about my weight (and yes, I am overweight). But, she's much less scary than Mona, another NP in the office. |

Sharon does have this habit of starting to answer your question before you are even done talking, but I've found that if you keep talking, it works out. I've been with her for some time so I'm probably used to it.
I agree that Dr. Osmun has a bad patient manner. He called me with my 1st trimester screening results and it took me about five minutes to tell me what the bloodwork results were in ISOLATION from all other readings. He just kept repeating that the absence of the nasal bone drove my numbers down (which I knew at the time of the sonogram). So I had to repeat like three times, "yes, but if you take away the NT and NB readings, what does the bloodwork say?" before I got him to say that bloodwork was normal. |
| It's funny because I thought Dr. Osmun had one of the best bedside manners (although there are a few doctors at RHJ that I really like). I guess it really does prove that everyone is different! |
| I recently saw Dr. Engle for the first time in the DC office. I'm rotating and have seen most of the practitioners at this point through two pregnancies. Honestly I didn't get much of an impression of him either way. He was OK...no-nonsense, but wasn't particularly personable. Have to say that I like Drs. Hill, Nevin, Johnson, Loveland, Jackson better. |
| I am currently rotating through the Drs at RHJ in Chevy Chase (am 22 weeks). I had always seen Dr. Abraham pre-pregnancy and was surprised when I got pregnant and they wanted me to "rotate" through the practice. Although it's not ideal, and I'd love to have Dr. Abraham all the time, I didn't change practices. I have found that anytime I call with questions / concerns, they call me right back and see me right away. The NP Sharon was very helpful with one emergency and told me to call her every week with a problem rather than wait and not know. I found that surprising and reassuring that they really care about my pregnancy. |
I totally agree! I think it depends on the situation though. I could see being a little ticked off that he couldn't give the 1st trimester screening results in total before qualifying the bloodwork numbers. I know other women who either love him or don't click with him at all. I didn't meet Dr. Osmun until I delivered my son a few years ago. He was great during the birth and supportive of my natural childbirth. He came to visit me and the baby every day that we were in the hospital even though he wasn't "on duty," which was nice. |
