How serious is this dog bite?

teach child and dog to play differently -- like fetch.

In my opinion bruising isn't a soft bite. However, I agree with PPs that said the kid is riling up the dog and the dog is playing - kid needs to be taught to play more calmly with dog. Not all dogs can handle certain kinds of play without getting over enthusiastic.
