Ok, now here's a case where parents have to know what they're getting themselves into. A friend named her daughter Cleo, and all I could think was "that's a cat's name". |
Dogs:
Madison Alex Sam Cat: Killer |
Dog named Chloe. That's the name she came with. It's suitable since I consider her my first born. |
Linus is our cat. We got him in October a few years ago and the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown was on. Also a tribute to Linus Pauling. Love the name but would not saddle a child with "linus" so that was our compromise. He was a rescue but the shelter did not have him named (and the number assigned to him was not really catchy, ha ha)
Conan is our dog, thus named because he has red hair and is hilarious. Named long before the "I'm with Coco" wars began. We adopted him from a shelter where his name was Ruger, probably because he is a hunting dog. His brothers were Buckshot and Remington. I don't like guns or hunting, so of course we renamed him (I don't think he knew his "old" name anyway). |
My parents' cat is Killer. Which is funny, because she's the most obsequious, lovey-dovey animal. Gives haughty felines everywhere a bad name. |
Agree - that is definitely a cat name. There are 2 cats named Cleo in our neighborhood. My husband's golden retriever was also named Cleo so I guess it's a dog name too! |
I'm Korean-American and just curious: why did you choose to name the dog Gogi? I'm wondering if it's a veiled insult. |
Two rescue dogs: Mia and Eva
They came with these names and we liked them so stuck with them. |
Frodo (a big German Shepherd) |
Clare-dog
Thomas-cat William-cat All 3 found me. |
Song - Siamese cat (goes with the whole dynasty thing. oh and she was noisy)
Dingle - grey tabby (named for the Dingle Peninsula in IReland - loved it there but wouldn't name my kid dingle) |
Riley - dog
|
Cats:
Daisy (came with that name) Cosmo (AKA Mr. Naughty Pants) Cosmo is short for cosmos, a wildflower. Wanted a flower name to go with Daisy Budgies: Joey Sunshine Lily Cockatiels: Squiggy Chunky Monkey Parrot: Chopper (came with that name.) |
Dogs: Duke and Daisy

Considering the dog has a Korean last name, no, it's not a veiled insult or an outright insult either. Years ago my husband and I were watching Cribs when Director Joseph Kahn was on and he had a puppy named Gogi. DH and I just couldn't stop laughing about it and swore that if we ever got a dog that was going to be it's name. |
