Same here. A couple white hairs. My mother is 78 and is still a redhead. Her stylist thinks she cheats on her with a colorist. LOL. I was told redheads don't go grey...I guess that was wrong. |
I think it depends on the shade of red. My grandfather, who had beautiful dark coppery red hair, never greyed, but turned into a strawberry blond. My father was more of a strawberry blond to start out with, and got some grey around his sideburns, but not until well into his sixties. |
My texture is changing a bit - more enchanced, I guess? The white hairs are coarser, as I'd expect. My red hair is a random mix of straight, wavy, and curly. The straight white hairs are straighter, the wavies are wavier, and the curls (esp on my temples) are way curlier. |
Yes, it's wrong. In my family even the brunets don't go gray until late 60s, but the redheads even less so. In DH's family, everyone was graying by 30, including the redheads. |
I'm early 50's and now about 20% gray, mostly around the face which is really aging so I need to do something. So far, what works best is to blend blond and light auburn root touch up coloring at home. I may look for a pro once the pandemic lets up, but at this point I need to color every 3-4 weeks, which is a lot of time at the salon.
When I would younger I could get away with throwing on some blond root touch up every once in a while and calling it "strawberry." |
Yes- exactly this! |
