also from myschooldc website : Post-lottery applications are automatically added to the bottom of schools’ waitlists in the order in which they are received and below the applicants who applied before the deadline and were waitlisted through the lottery. The only exception to this is for applicants that qualify for a lottery preference, such as in-boundary, sibling attending, etc. For example, an applicant with an in-boundary preference will jump ahead of an applicant without an in-boundary preference on the waitlist regardless of when they applied. |
Stop pulling info from MySchoolDC that has no relevance to Walls, which is an application school. Walls has no boundary preference and no sibling preference. |
Clarification: This post is about the high school - NOT the elementary/ middle school |
It's more likely that 3 people withdrew their application or declined a seat at the school which would cause moves up |
Does anyone know about Langley elementary school for upper school elementary? |
I do but it's considered more polite to begin your own thread. |
But this is not that situation--DC's waitlist number started at n. It is now n+3. |
Is walls a school that admits more students than they expect to attend (I.e, yield)? If so, perhaps more students committed than their WL accounted for. |
No, no students have committed or enrolled yet.
They just found an additional 3 students and added them to the top of the waitlist. No one knows who they are. |
My guess is that three kids declined and a bug moved them to the top of the waitlist. |
FWIW, I contacted MySchoolDC to find out what was going on. They said that the selective public high schools maintain their own waitlists, so I should contact Walls directly. I sent an email. |
Given that the previous Walls Principal was fired due to "Enrollment Irregularities" I am going to assume that this is all above board and some glitch. |
Here's the response I got from Walls--not very informative, but it's clear they knew this happened:
There was an adjustment that needed to be made to the waitlist; that is why your student’s waitlist number changed. Going forward, the only movement should be the waitlist number going lower, if seats are offered to students who were placed on the waitlist. |
